How to find registry keys in Windows

WinFindr is a great tool for searching for registry data in Windows. It supports searching for registry keys, registry entries and registry values. In case you are not familiar with the registry, it is a database that stores configuration data for the Windows operating system and applications. A registry key is like a folder in the registry. A registry entry is like a file in the registry. And a registry value is like the content of a file, or a registry entry in this case.

To search for registry keys in Windows with WinFindr, you need to follow these steps:

  1. Open WinFindr. Download it now if you haven’t already.
  2. Control-Click on the “Registry key” checkbox to only search for registry keys. (Optional step)
  3. Select “Look for registry keys ...”
  4. Enter the search word or phrase you want to search for, for example “Firefox”. Notice that you can enter multiple search words (one per line).
  5. Click on the “Start” button to start the search.
  6. WinFindr will now search for all registry key whose name contains the given search terms.
