In case you are not familiar with the registry, it is a database that stores configuration data for the Windows operating system and applications. A registry key is like a folder in the registry. A registry entry is like a file in the registry. And a registry value is like the content of a file, or a registry entry in this case.
To search for registry keys in Windows with WinFindr, you need to follow these steps:
- Open WinFindr. Download it now if you haven’t already.
- Control-Click on the “Registry key” checkbox to only search for registry keys. (Optional step)
- Select “Look for registry keys ...”
- Enter the search word or phrase you want to search for, for example “Firefox”. Notice that you can enter multiple search words (one per line).
- Click on the “Start” button to start the search.
- WinFindr will now search for all registry key whose name contains the given search terms.
